It’s very worrisome how politicians suddenly become far more active and attentive during election periods. They show up at mechanic shops, eat with widows and the less privileged, help manage traffic, donate bags of rice, assist with changing car tires and engine oil, and engage in countless public displays of concern. In the three to six months leading up to an election, they often do more for their constituents than they will throughout their entire tenure in office. One thing is certain, they know exactly what they’re doing.
