  • How can I access a locked Windows account?

Posted by Bertran Hammad on September 20, 2023 at 2:52 pm

Basically, my missus’ nan’s other half passed away back in December, and her nan is trying to get the PC up and running again only to be stalled at the point of logging into Windows, as her other half never shared his password with her or anybody!

Other than re-formatting Windows, has anyone had any experience with software that would clear the password so I can access his account?

Your post is a few years old, but if you’re still looking for advice or if someone else finds themselves in a similar situation, I hope this helps.
You can try using password recovery or reset tools that are designed to bypass the Windows login screen. Software like Ophcrack or Offline NT Password & Registry Editor could help in clearing the existing password.
If you’re open to reinstalling Windows, you can do a fresh install without losing all the personal files by selecting the “Keep personal files” option during the setup. For this, you’ll need a legitimate Windows key. If cost is an issue, you can actually get a windows 10 key cheap. You can find there legitimate keys at very reasonable prices.

I remember when my grandma faced a similar issue after my grandpa passed away. We ended up using a password reset tool to access his account without having to reformat everything. It was a bit nerve-wracking at first, but thankfully it worked smoothly. If you’re looking for a solution like that, it might be worth a shot before resorting to reformatting. By the way, if you need any software tools or keys like a cheap Windows 11 Pro key, I came across a good deal recently that might come in handy.
