Do startup founders encourage their employees to become entrepreneurs?
If by “entrepreneur” you mean “self-employed person who owns their own business,” then the answer is a resounding “no.” Most startup founders view employees who become entrepreneurs as a threat to their businesses.
Employees who become entrepreneurs are likely to leave their jobs to pursue their own businesses, which can be disastrous for a startup that’s still in its early stages of development. In fact, many startup founders go out of their way to discourage employees from becoming entrepreneurs, because they know that it could very well lead to the demise of their business.
